HEAD BASEBALL COACH OF THE
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA BULLDOGS
DAVE PERNO
Coach Perno's "tips" for playing college ball:
1. The three A's - Attitude, Academics and Ability
2. Always give 100 % - you never know who might be watching!
3. Study hard and get the Hope Scholarship -
it could be the deciding factor between two final candidates.
Plus, only 11.7 baseball scholarships are awarded per year.
4. Everyone should have their Guidance Counselors complete their
"Clearinghouse" papers as soon as possible
If you don't understand the Clearinghouse or Hope scholarship rules -
click on the "Education / Scholarship" Link at the bottom of this page.
5. To get noticed at your favorite college - go to the baseball camps
6. If you send a letter to the coach, you better be sure that it is
addressed to him personally (not Dear Coach:)
7. Set a goal for yourself - you may have to make some
sacrifices, but it will be worth it in the long run
8. Weight lifting is now a necessity - follow a good program
designed for baseball (See Coach Howard or one of his staff)
